The Imperial Hotel was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and opened September 1, 1923 in Tokyo, Japan as the Jewel of the Orient. FLW designed each detail from the exterior, interior furnishings to the dinnerware in a mix of Mayan Revival and Art Deco. Present day some of the original FLW architecture and tapestries can be enjoyed at the Old Imperial Bar
